Moxley McDonald Architects are located in South Brent, Devon on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. This is conveniently positioned in the centre of the South Hams between Exeter and Plymouth just off the A38 'Expressway'.

The majority of our work is in Plymouth, South Devon and the Dartmoor National Park, although we also have projects in Cornwall, Somerset, Bristol and London. A project of ours was recently featured in the Architects Journal, and also won a Blueprint Magazine international design award. A new house in the Dartmoor National Park designed by us received a commendation in the Arnold Sayers Awards.

The practice was started in 1989 and Moxley McDonald Architects was formed when Ian McDonald joined in 1994. We became Moxley McDonald Architects Limited in May 2003. Both partners are fully qualified architects, are registered with the RIBA and are experienced in projects of all sizes and types.

We have designed several one off new houses for individual clients and also a development of thirteen new houses in the South Hams. This also includes four houses for a local housing association.

We have a broad range of experience in addition to residential projects. Previous and current projects include primary schools, health centres, dental surgeries, small industrial buildings, offices, shops and community buildings.

As well as new buildings many of our projects involve extending, adapting and altering historic buildings - 'Listed' buildings, buildings in conservation areas or within the Dartmoor National Park. We have a lot of experience in this area and Ian McDonald has a post graduate diploma in architectural conservation.

We believe that good design and working closely with our clients and builders is the key to success. Ideally we like to see our designs through to completion of the building work on site. However we are happy to work one stage at a time, so clients dont have to make a large committment to us from the outset. We can prepare 'Ideas Plans' or 'feasibility study' for clients for a fixed fee when someone simply wants a design to think about before going any further.

We do not impose design solutions on people and like to be flexible in our approach. We enjoy working with each individual client to find the right design to suit them and their building or site.
